Far North Transport

The Far North is easily accessible from Auckland by road via the State Highway 1 (Twin Coast Discovery Highway) or by air. For day to day needs in the Far North a motor vehicle is required as there is very limited public transport between the townships.

However, driving around the Far North is an absolute pleasure. The Far North has no traffic lights and only 7 roundabouts. All the major townships are linked to the State Highway network. Phrases like 'road rage', 'traffic jam' and 'rush hour' are not known here!

Road: Integrated Coach Services with the rest of New Zealand are available to the main towns in the Far North.
