Far North Education
New Zealand has a government funded education system with attendance at school compulsory from the age of six through to sixteen.
A full curriculum of academic, sporting and skill based learning options are provided from early childhood through to secondary school.
Early childhood options include kindergartens, child care centres or parent/community run play centres.
Within the Far North, you may choose from government funded state primary, intermediate and secondary schools which are geographically based district wide or select a fee paying private schools, Regardless of the school being public or private the schools have to follow the New Zealand educational curriculum.
All New Zealand schools are audited regularly to ensure high standards are maintained.
NorthTec is the region's largest provider of tertiary education, with campuses in, Kerikeri, Rāwene, Kaitāia, Kaikohe, with its main campus in Whāngārei NorthTec provide courses across the curriculum which include business studies, health, science, tourism, trade training and more. NorthTec remains the only Far North and Northland region-based Tertiary Education Institute that provides programmes from foundation to degree level.
In the Far North there are also a number of private tertiary education providers which offer a range of courses and qualifications. All courses and qualification offered by both public and private tertiary education providers are government accredited.
